Crime : Security guard stabbed to death

A security guard at a shop in Kawale in Malawi’s  capital city, Lilongwe has been stabbed to death during an attempted robbery at the shop he was guarding.

Lilongwe police spokesperson, Kingsley Dandaula, has confirmed the development and has identified the deceased as Millias Kazembe from Songaye village in the area of Traditonal Authority Mpando in Ntcheu.

knife-bloodHe said: “on Saturday, Kazembe reported for work and at night, a robber came to break into the shop but before he did it he saw the guard and upon realising that the guard had seen him and knows him, he stabbed the guard with a knife on the stomach and fled.”

The deceased was later taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead whilst receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, Dandaula says Lilongwe police have nabbed a 36 year old man, Bikiton Livimbo from Mpingu village, Traditional Authority Malili in the district in connection with the matter.

The suspect will soon appear before court to answer charges of murder contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
