Mighty Be Forward Wanderers continued their poor run of form in Malawi’s top tier League when they lost 1-0 to Silver Strikers in a game played on Saturday at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

Dubbed match of the week, the clash of the titans lived up to expectations as it attracted massive spectators.

Kicking off at exactly 2:30 pm, the battle proved to be competitive with both teams having an equal share of ball possession.

20 minutes into the game, Silver Stadium’s atmosphere favored the hosts as they went ahead through a Mathews Sibale header who connected a Peter Wadabwa cross. The bankers clung to the lead until the last whistle thereby collecting three points.

The result reduced Wanderers supporters to mourners in need of consolation.

Reacting to the loss, team manager for the Blantyre based outfit Steve Madeira uttered a word of apology to their ‘bereaved’ supporters.

He assured them of better results in the remaining five games because that is the only way to repay their faith.

His Silver counterpart, Lovemore Fazili, was all smiles with the result considering the magnitude of the game. He congratulated his boys for a job well done.

The capital city giants lie third on the league table with 42 points having played 24 games. The loss for the Lali Lubani boys means they remain seventh with 32 points from 23 games.

Before returning to Blantyre, the nomads have another fixture to fulfill as they date Epac FC today at Civo stadium.

A win for the latter will increase their chances of surviving the chop whereas victory for Nomads will add to their chances of a top 8 finish.
