Barely a few weeks before the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) elections, Willy Yabwanja Phiri has been cleared to contest for FAM’s hot seat after winning his appeal.

Yabwanya was barred from standing due to residential issues but after making an appeal, he is now eligible to stand in the elections which are slated for the 12th of December 2015.

This now means Yabwanya who was nominated by the National Referee’s Committee will now battle it out for the presidency with the current Malawi FA’s president Walter Nyamilandu and Wilkins Mijiga.

In other positions, the current first vice president will lock horns with the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) treasurer Tiya Somba Banda for the position of first vice president while Othaniel Hara will compete with Pikawo Ngalamira for the second vice president seat.

Rashid Mtelera, Daud Mtanthiko, Jabba Alide, Flora Mwandira, Masauko Medi and Gunda will battle it out for the executive member position.
