Malawi’s Information Minister, Jappie Mhango was rich before and forget about him being on the post to steal any money, if what he openly told a local Television in an interview is anything to go by.

Mhango in an interview with Hotshot TV host, Brian Banda on Times TV recently said that he had wealth and may not be corrupt because he had enough of wealth even before President Peter Mutharika picked him to serve the Ministry.

The Rumphi North Constituency, Member of Parliament (MP) was responding to a question which ironically asked for both his interest in politics and whether he would be as a bandwagon of politicians who have failed Malawians by stealing public resources.

Mhango: Am already rich.

At a time when Malawi is in an economic crisis, Mhango totally bragged about his wealth while telling Malawians he is a clean politician.

Mhango who replaced Kondwani Nankhumwa, whose office sparkled eyes brows for openly claiming that ex Malawi President Joyce Banda was responsible for the death of President Bingu wa Mutharika was quick enough to say he owns a very expensive car and has riches even before he was appointed to the post in a reshuffle the Democratic Progressive Party regime made in August.

“I was driving a limousine before I became Minister and even if I leave today I shall always drive a limousine.”

He has since been receiving criticism for bragging about his wealth on the mainstream media.

Mhango hit headlines lately after people from his constituency named him ‘the best MP’ the area has had after he also pushed the DPP to the area which the Alliance for Democracy (Aford) boasted of a stronghold.

A simple internet search indicates that a limousine from Mainland China + LHD VVT Technology 1500cc MT/ATH330 Limousine Car is at above $8,000 (MK 4.4 Million).
