…APM says JB forced him to charter a private Jet to the UN

Malawi President Peter Mutharika does not appear to tone down on his predecessor, Mrs. Joyce Banda.

The scapegoat

In his latest attacks, described by commentators as ludicrous, Mutharika has asked Malawians to blame the former president, saying she forced him to use K300 million to charter a private jet from Dubai to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

“Joyce Banda’s costly decision to sell off the presidential jet has the country in this awkward situation that it has to hire an aircraft for President Mutharika every time he travels outside Malawi” reads part of the statement issued by Mutharika’s State House Press Office which has attracted a wrath among Malawians.

In the 15-paragraphed statement which aims to refute the type of the jet government hired by paying over K300 million that could be used to buy drugs in public hospitals or fund the annual primary school feeding programme, Mutharika was too shy to reveal how much government spent in total on the trip.

Reports have however emerged indicating that government wasted over K1.3 billion on allowances alone for Mutharika and his 115-member entourage to the US.

In response to accusations, Amin Phiri, wrote on facebook demanding the breakdown of the cost that government used to hire the jet Mutharika used as well as the cost for the whole UN trip.

“Give us your report, hw much was the cost? Is the president saving our money? You are blaming zodiak but you are not telling us the total costs for the village that travelled to the US. zodiak simanama, sindizasiya kuvela zodiak evin mutaikhomelera. How can u tell someone that zodiak is lyng but u r hidng the truth??” wondered Amin Phiri.
