In a bid to tame Corruption syndrome in the country’s public Hospitals, following a disturbing trend of invisible tariffs in exchange for life, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Gift Mponda, a Radiology technician at Zomba Central Hospital, for corruption.
According to ACB the arrest took charge on allegations that Mponda was busy collecting money from Petients who lined up to be scanned.
ACB senior Public Relations Officer Jacqueline Ngongonda confirms and says the suspect appeared before the Zomba Senior Resident Magistrate where he was charged with the offence of abuse of public office contrary to section 25B(1) as read with section 34 of the Corrupt Practices Act.
Ngongonda said Mponda has been released on Police bail.
ACB has strongly said that the Bureau will be pursuing all cases of corruption and ensuring that all individuals involved are held accountable and face the law.

The collaboration results uncovered not just a series of isolated ethical lapses, but a coordinated corruption chain from Security Guards, Clerks, and Clinicians who have monetised suffering.
The report exposed how Officials have turned the waiting rooms into marketplaces where the price of survival ranges from K4,000 to K260, 000.
