Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba has called on servants of God,such as priests, sisters, and brothers to carry out their work faithfully.
Bishop Chaima made these remarks at Zomba Cathedral during the Mass for Pontifical Missionary Union in the Catholic Church who serve in the Diocese of Zomba.
He said that the Day of Pontifical Missionary Union in the Church is very important because servants from different congregations come together to pray as one.
The mass was held under the theme:“Priests, Sisters and Brothers, be united with Jesus Christ and united in mission.”
Bishop Chaima urged the Priests, Sisters and Brothers to work in unity according to their respective responsibilities, and he also asked them to encourage young men and women to join their congregations and begin serving God.
He further advised the Priests, Sisters and Brothers to stand firmly against sin throughout their lives as they serve God.
“Let us pray for one another, we servants of God, so that our work may go well,” he said.
He also encouraged Priests, Sisters and Brothers serving in the Diocese of Zomba to engage in charitable works as part of their mission.
Speaking on behalf of the Pontifical Missionary Union, Sister Anastasia Dzoole, who serves in the congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, said the day is very important because they celebrate being chosen by God to serve Him, and it strengthens their faith.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the National Laity Council of the Catholic Church in Malawi, Hastings Dowe, said that servants of God are very important among Christians and called on all Christians in the country to pray for God’s servants so that their work of service may continue to grow.
