Dedza Police Station has today December, 22, 2025, received a newly constructed office building worth 30 million Kwacha, courtesy of a community-led initiative spearheaded by stakeholders and well-wishers in Dedza District.
According to Dedza Police Public Relations Officer, Beatrice Jefita, the project, launched three years ago, was made possible through collective efforts of the community and stakeholders who contributed resources like sand, bricks, and construction materials.
Leading the initiative was Simon Itaye, owner of Puma Filling Station, who funded painting and tiling works worth 10 million Kwacha.
He said he thought it wise to support the police through such a development, adding that he has great respect and love for the Malawi Police Service.
He encouraged continued collaboration between the police and the community for the benefit of Dedza District.
Dedza Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Felix V. Phiri, thanked stakeholders for their selfless gesture, saying the building will improve working conditions and service delivery.
The Station Executive Committee Chairperson, Peter Msukwa, and Senior Chief Kamenyagwaza also applauded the stakeholders for their dedication and cooperation with the police.
The handover ceremony was graced by dignitaries including Dedza District Commissioner Rosemary Nawasha, who commended stakeholders for complementing government efforts.
She urged the community and business sector to continue working closely with the police to maintain law and order.
