Parliament passes 2025/2026 Budget

Parliament has today passed the K8.08 trillion 2025/2026 national Budget. The approved budget estimates were considered by a Committee of the whole House, Vote by Vote. 

This process was set in motion by Finance and Economic Planning Minister Hon. Simplex Chithyola Banda, who moved the motion enabling the House to conduct the Committee of Supply.

The initial budget presented in the House was K8.5 trillion, but adjustments were made before its final approval.

During the session, Finance Minister Simplex Chithyola Banda informed Parliament that additional funds had been allocated to key sectors, including the Ministry of Health, National Assembly operations, and infrastructure compensation under the Millennium Challenge Account top-up.

In the approved budget, the Ministry of Health has been allocated K396 billion, the Ministry of Agriculture has received K667 billion, and the National Assembly has been allocated K57 billion.

The 2025/2026 Financial Year starts on April 1, 2025.
