Pharmacy Medicines Regulatory Authority says the newly introduced transportation service by Air Cargo Malawi Limited will facilitate the efficient importation of pharmaceutical goods in the country and also improve access to essential medicines for the citizens of the country.

PMRA Director General  Mphatso Kawaye made the sentiments today during the launch of Pharma Services by Air Cargo Malawi Limited.

Speaking at the event Kawaye said there are many challenges that the pharmaceutical logistics market faces and the introduction of Air Cargo Malawi Pharma service will help address these international logistics problems.

He added that the service will provide sustainable support to the importer in complying with the law as it relates to the storage and transportation of temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.

He further noted that the new service aligns with the country’s vision for 2063 to provide quality healthcare support.

In his remarks, Board Chairperson for Air Cargo Malawi Limited Felix Tandwe said the launch of Pharma services underscores their commitment to providing customers with value for money in freight services.

“Our newly launched Pharma service will ensure the seamless transportation of life-changing drugs and sensitive pharmaceutical products by integrating speed, safety, and reliability. We will offer affordable rates and will have come to respond to the question of stock-outs of medicines in some of our facilities due to the nightmare of freight logistics we experienced,” he explained.

According to Tandwe speedy delivery and safe handling of medicines remain a gap in the local freight solutions sector and their pharmaceutical service has come to fill the gap and address the industry’s needs.

Air Cargo Malawi has partnered with Emirates Airlines to deliver medicines to Malawi from import markets in Europe and Dubai.
