Malawians on social media have faulted Capital Hill for expressing ignorance on the arrest of the Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau Martha Chizuma earlier today.

Writing on his Facebook page following the arrest, Minister of Information Gospel Kazako expressed shock with the arrest, which heightened anger among Malawians.

According to the citizenry, the country’s administrative is masquerading ignorance on the case, when in true sense a top government official cannot end up in police custody without its knowledge.

Furthermore, other Malawians believe the government is aware of the issue but deliberately concealing some vital information, in an effort to shield some of its corrupt officials.

“They know well the one behind the arrest of Martha. If they think this is smart politics, I bet they are being misled by some selfish advisors,” reads one of the comments.

Another social media user also commented: “Of course they know but we are used getting fooled by these politicians.”

One of the followers for the ruling Malawi Congress Party also commented: “The same government arrested Chizuma, then the same government is shocked, total drama.”
