Suspected motorcycle thieves arrested in Ndirande

Two people are in police custody at Ndirande Police Station on suspicion that they attacked Kabaza Taxi operators and robbed them of their motorcycles at Ndirande in Blantyre.

The two have been identified as Jaffali Emmanuel, 24, from Basadi Village in Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mulanje and Daniel Saoda, 26, who hails from  Matepwere Village in Traditional Authority Kaduya in Phalombe District.

Accorinng to Ndirande Police Station spokesperson Inspector Widson Nhlane, the Police Station recently recorded  cases of motorcycle robbery and theft within the township.

Upon receipt of the reports, the station through Criminal Investigation Department, swiftly made a follow up through Intelligence driven collection and got a tip that some of the stolen motorbikes are at Migowi in Phalombe.

The detectives visited the area and successfully recovered two motorcycles and arrested Daniel Saoda in connection to the incidents.

After being interviewed, Daniel confessed to have bought two motorcycles from a person who comes from Blantyre and led to the arrest of Jaffali Emmanuel. Further, investigations have revealed that Jaffali was once arrested in Chikwawa District for committing similar offences and is currently on court bail which he absconded.

The officers are still on the ground to arrest the remaining suspects who are still at large and recover some motorcycles.

 In the same vein,  police is urging Community members to continue sharing valid information on criminals hiding in our locations rather than habouring them.

Some of the victims were called for identification and one of them positively identified Jaffali Emmanuel to have robbed him of his Lifan type of  motorcycle.

The two will appear before court soon to answer robbery related charges.
