Three people died last night after a bus they were travelling in overturned at Chitsulo area, just before Bwanje trading centre along Balaka-Salima M1 road.
The UDK bus registration number MC 4616, Scania Macopollo, driven by a yet to be identified driver, was coming from the direction of Balaka heading Salima, along M5 road.
Upon arrival at the said place at around 2000 hours, it hit an Ox-cat that was going same direction.
Due to the impact, the driver lost control of the bus, and it went to the right hand side where it overturned.
According to Ntcheu police station, public relation officer Hastings Chigalu, three people died on the spot.
Other passengers suffered injuries and have been referred to Balaka District Hospital for medical attention.
The total number of people who were on board was not yet established, so was the number of casualties.
Bodies of the deceased are being kept at Balaka District Mortuary.
Officers are still on the ground doing their best to assist casulties, as they are yet to bring more details.
