Nyasa Big Bullets win big at Super League awards

…as Chester scoops player of the season award…

TNM Super League ended in December last year and in order to celebrate the season that was, an award ceremony for 2018 season was held on Saturday at Cross Roads Hotel in Blantyre where top performers were rewarded for their sweat.

Chiukepo: top goal scorer

The event, which was organised by sponsors TNM Limited and Super League of Malawi, saw winners Nyasa Big Bullets scooping the majority of the awards.

In individual awards, Bullets duo of Rabson Chiyenda and John Lanjesi won the best goalkeeper and defender respectively and walked away with K100 000 each.

Surprise package of the day saw Masters Security midfielder Francisco Nkonda scooping the midfielder of year award with Bullets’ Mike Mkwate winning the most improved player of the year award and both walked away with K100 000 each.

Chiukepo Msowoya won the golden boot award after netting 16 goals and was rewarded with K250 000 cash prize.

The biggest winner of the day was Be Forward Wanderers’ Yamikani Chester who won the coveted player of the season award and was given a cool K300 000 cash prize.

In other categories, Masters Security won both the best technical panel and the most improved team, having finished on 4th position after fighting for relegation in the previous season.

Bullets were also rewarded for their hardworking spirit after finishing the first round on position one and they also won the best management team award for going commercial at the beginning of last season.

The award for the most disciplined/fair play went to Kasungu’s TN Stars while Silver Strikers supporters won the most disciplined supporters award.

Gift Chikho, Clemence Kanduku and Happiness Mbandambanda were named best set of referees for their outstanding performances in the entire season.

By finishing first, Bullets went away with K15 million cash prize, with Wanderers earning K7.5 million for finishing on second position.

The Central Bankers, who finished third for the third consecutive time, walked away with K4 million while Masters Security were given K3.5 million for finishing on 4th position.
