Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has asked Muslim leaders (Sheikhs) to analyse Muslim weddings before giving the newlyweds marriage certificates.
This is coming following a bogus Muslim weddings that happened last week at Area 23 in Lilongwe.
In a letter, MAM has asked sheikhs to analyse thoroughly the wedding ceremony especially the reception held after the officiation at the Mosque.
MAM has told sheikhs to withhold certificates for couples whose wedding reception was against Islam teachings on weddings.
Last week, a certain wedding ceremony in Lilongwe sparked controversy after the couple and bridal party were captured dancing to King Monada’s Malwedhe, a popular secular song where dancers collapse.
The dancing at the wedding was condemned by MAM who said it was contrary to the Islamic rules on marriages.
