Malawi national team legend Peterkins Kayira has confirmed plans to run for a seat as Member of Parliament for Chitipa Wenya constituency in the forthcoming 2019 polls.

Speaking in an interview, Kayira said he has taken a huge amount of thought in deciding to contest and will be under the UTM.

He said his constituency remains poorly developed hence he thought of running again as an MP to bail out the people after losing in 2014.

“As a son of Chitipa Wenya the least I can do for my people is to contest as an MP because my constituency is underdeveloped hence my people lack basic daily needs,” he said.

Kayira will be competing in a constituency where the incumbent Member of Parliament is Godfrey Munkhonda.

“I believe I have what it takes to bring change to Chitipa Wenya, I’m well connected and once elected I’ll use those connections to influence development to come in the constituency thereby giving development to the people that they deserve,” vowed Kayira.

The Malawi football legend Kayira has joined former Flames captain Peter Mponda and Nyasa Big Bullets winger Fisher Kondowe who have also shown interest to contest in next year’s polls.
