Silver Strikers and Moyale Barracks have progressed to the quarterfinals of the FISD Challenge Cup following victories on Saturday afternoon.
At Silver Stadium, the Bankers hammered Civil Sporting Club 10-9 on post-match penalties after 90 minutes of the regulation time ended one all.
The hosts found the back of the net through their in-form forward Mike Tete before the visitors equalized through Fletcher Bandawe forcing the Lilongwe derby into penalties.
Silver Strikers will play the winner between Kamuzu Barracks and Marka Express who face each other tomorrow at Civo Stadium.
At Mulanje Stadium, the Lions of Kaning’ina, Moyale Barracks, whipped Mulanje based side Bloomfield 4-1.
Moyale will meet the victor in the match between Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve and Blue Eagles who face each other at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
In other matches, Mafco also bid a farewell to the national cup after they were stunned 1-0 at Chitowe ground by Northern Region Premier Division leaders, Chitipa United.
This means that the Salima based soldiers will not win any silverware this season and if they will not find their winning formulae sooner they might face the chop from the top flight league.
In another match played on Saturday, Airborne Rangers defeated Ipota Shooting Stars 1-0 at Mzuzu Stadium to book their quarterfinal ticket where they are expected to meet the winner between Dwangwa Town Hammers and Be Forward Wanderers who will battle it out this coming Tuesday at Chitowe Stadium.
The last fixture of round of 16 matches will be played on Saturday when Mzamani fc will play Nyasa Big Bullets and the winner will meet Chitipa United in the last eight.
