A gender activist says there is need for people to continue fighting gender based violence in the country.
This follows the end of the 16 days of activism against gender based violence which ran from November 25 to December 10.
Executive Director for NGO Gender Coordination Network Emma Kaliya said there is need for non-governmental organisation to continue fighting gender based violence.
“We need to continue fighting gender based violence despite finishing the 16 days of activism and people need to work more on the fight,” said Kaliya.
She encouraged stakeholders in the country and other organisations to work together in the fight against gender based violence.
According to Kaliya, there is need for people to report issues of gender based violence.
She added that issues of men sleeping with women and girls in the name of culture should not be condoned.
However, there has been an observation that most men do not report issues of gender based violence because of being shy which has been a setback in the fight against gender based violence.
