Man kills brother over bicycle

A 28 year-old man in Mangochi district has killed his brother after the victim refused to lend the attacker his bicycle.

The suspect identified as Samson Master killed his brother Francis Namathanga aged 20 at Manjawira village, Traditional Authority Mponda in the district.

KabanzaMangochi Police Public Relations Officer Roderick Maida told Malawi24 that the two brothers who are from the same mother but different fathers were living together.

On November 26 the suspect Master asked his brother Namathanga to borrow him his bicycle but Namathanga refused.

“This did not go well with Master who out of anger took a wooden stick and hit the deceased several times on the head and run away to unknown destination,” said Maida.

The victim was rushed to Mangochi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Postmortem conducted at Mangochi District Hospital revealed that death was due to head injuries. Samson hails from Village Manjawira, Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
