Poets date Lilongwe in campaign against albino killings

As a way of showing strong resistance against attacks of people with albinism in the country, poets in Malawi have come together with well put stanzas which defends the rights of people with albinism.

The landmark poetic campaign that has been organised by Sapitwa poetry in conjunction with ABC Writers workshop will bring together heavyweights such as Robert Chiwamba, Q Malewezi, Maclean and Yolie among others for a common cause of campaigning against the killings and abductions of people with albinism.

Speaking to Malawi24, one of the poets who will be available at the feast Robert Chiwamba said as various stakeholders in the country are taking pivotal roles against this barbaric act against people with albinism, poets have also thought it wise to take action.

“We had a 31 day poetry campaign against the attacks of people with albinism from 1st to 31st July this year and now we are closing this campaign in Lilongwe on 24th September at African Bible College for a common cause,” said Chiwamba.

He added that people have to expect well put stanzas condemning the killing of people with albinism.

“As usual we will give out our best but this time in the fight against the killing and abduction of people with albinism,” said Chiwamba.

He also revealed that Sapitwa poetry have organised themselves and produced two albums against the abductions and the killings of people with albinism.

This auspicious occasion for a common cause will be held at African Bible College (E.E building) from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
