Leaders from various sectors in Malawi had a rare opportunity as they became the first people to watch renowned Gospel singer Don Moen perform in Malawi.
The musician performed live on Thursday at Bingu International Conference Centre ahead of another appearance this weekend at Love Malawi Festival which will be held by the fields of Maula Prison in the capital city, Lilongwe.
Moen who arrived Thursday afternoon in Malawi for the Love Malawi Festival made a solo performance during the night at the Love Malawi Festival Business, Civic and Professional Leaders dinner.
The 600 delegates who filled the hall got thrilled as Moen delivered some of his popular songs while playing his piano. From the very start of the performance, the audience joined Moen by singing along with him some of his popular Praise and Worship tunes. When he took to stage Moen said “it is a great honour to be in Malawi” and he opened the performance with the song ‘Give Thanks’ followed by another popular song ‘God Will Make A Way.’
He finished his impressive performance of the night with ‘How Great is Our God’ song and the audience continued singing some verses of the song as he left the stage.
Moen’s performance on the night was just an ‘appetizer’ for this weekend’s free performance at the Love Malawi Festival where Malawians will for the first time watch the American singer perform live with full band.
He will share the stage with local artists Great Angels Choir, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers, Faith Mussa, Suffix, KBG and Love Malawi Choir. Love Malawi Festival has been organised with the aim of fostering unity in Malawi through Gospel of Jesus Christ to be delivered by the international evangelist Andrew Palau.
Evangelist Palau also shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the diners and he encouraged them to “seek for peace and prosperity of the place the Lord has put us” through prayer which he emphasized that it has the power to change everything.
He said the aims of the festival are to seek for the prosperity and peace of the city of which they are living in and he encouraged them to read the bible and believe the message of Jesus Christ saying his message is still relevant today and it possess power of answering every deepest question that people have in their lives.
Palau also spoke to the gathering about how to find peace in their hearts and shared with them his story about how Gospel of Jesus Christ transformed his life from a young man who pursued selfish life desires up to the moment the power of prayer changed him after hearing the gospel at a Festival in Jamaica.
The dinner was attended by some well-known business persons and politicians including former vice president Dr. Justin Malewezi and Leader of Opposition Dr. Lazarus Chakwera. In his speech, Malewezi gave a motivational talk on how quality leadership can bring success in everything. He said a good leader take full responsibility of anything while the bad leader passes blame to somebody or something when things go wrong.
