After being named Malawi National Football Team caretaker coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan has appointed former Flames and Big Bullets defender Patrick Mabedi and Blue Eagles coach Derklerk Msakakuona as his deputies for the 2017 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) game against Swaziland at home next month.
According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM), the governing body gave Ramadhan an opportunity to select his own backroom staff ahead of the encounter.
“We gave him all the freedom to choose his own backroom staff for the Swaziland clash and he has named Patrick Mabedi and Derklerk Msakakuona as his deputies.
“He has also named Clement Kafwafwa as the team manager, with Swadick Sanudi as the goalkeeper’s trainer,” FAM General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda told a local radio station.
He also revealed that Ramadhan will sign a one month contract later this week.
The Burundian attained the highest position in the Flames’ technical panel following the firing of his predecessor Ernest Mtawali last month.
Malawi lies bottom of Group L with two points, and will be looking to finish the campaign on a high note.
Flames’ last Afcon match was a 3-nil defeat to Zimbabwe last month in Harare.

Wellcome development Mr Ramadhan, atleast it is an undeniable fact that the way Mr Nsakakuona has been perfoming on the domestic football spheres, a recognition of some kind is supposed to be extended to him. For Mr Mabedi, well, this is a name that needs no introduction in as far as both international and local football scenes as him with his coleagues put Malawi on map with COSAFA finals almost twice or thrice. Your choice of these two gentlemen Mr Ramadhan deserves a tap on the back. Please dont be misled by some FAM politics that has almost killed our beautiful sport to watch,football and is on the blink of being forgotten.
