The stolen medicine was meant for Chitekesa health centre in the district.

medicineIt is said that the man showed the pharmacist fake documents which were indicating that he was really a health personnel and the pharmacist later gave him the medicine.

Three days later, legitimate health officers from Chitekesa health facility went to the district’s health office to collect medicine for the institution.

That is when the pharmacist realised that the medicine allocated to the health facility had been collected by a bogus health worker.

In the meantime, the matter has been reported to police in the district who say they are investigating the issue.

The development comes barely months after the President Peter Mutharika in conjunction with the United States of America launched a joint campaign aimed at dealing with theft of medicine in public hospitals.
