…Bullets to host Mafco, Wanderers to play Moyale

The semi-final line up for the 2016 Presidential Cup is now complete. 2012 winners Big Bullets will play host to the 2013 champions Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium.

Another showdown will be between 2009 winners Mighty Wanderers and 2012 runners up Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday. Three of the semi-finalists have had a taste of what it feels to win the prestigious cup.

The Nomads were the first to grab the cup when it was launched by late President Bingu Wa Mutharika in 2009 courtesy of Anthony Banda’s last minute header against Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium.

In 2012, Bullets won the cup courtesy of a Gabadinho Mhango’s third minute strike against Moyale Barracks at Civo Stadium, a match that was dominated by the Soldiers.

In 2013, it was Mafco’s turn. The Salima based Soldiers got the better of Silver Strikers 11-10 on penalties when defender Lameck Kachimanga missed his spot kick.

And now, after nearly two years without the cup, boys will be separated by men. The four teams will battle it out for a place in the finals for the ultimate K10 million prize.

After their 2-1 victory over Max Bullets on Wednesday, Wanderers Coach Eddington Ng’onamo told reporters that his side will win the cup.

“We are winning this cup without any doubt. Don’t forget that we are cup specialists and when we reach any cup final, we don’t lose,” he said. Winners from the two games will battle it out for K10 million.
