TNM raises Internet tariffs.

The most notable data bundles whose charges have been raised are, the Whatsapp monthly bundle, the smart 30 MB bundle and the cheapest, smart 10 MB bundle.

It is only a matter of days before the hike comes into effect, thereby providing room for customers to cope up.

Here is how charges have changed; the Whatsapp monthly bundle has been hiked from K500 to K560, the smart 30 MB bundle will be costing K120 from K99, and the cheapest 10 MB bundle will be costing K65 from K55.

Consumers’ voice, Consumers Association of Malawi (CAMA) is yet to comment on the matter.

Amidst the country’s economic problems, people are expecting the body to take an action as evidenced by lamentation Malawians are sharing on social media following the increase.

With less than 8% of internet usage, Malawi is one of the countries in the world where internet charges are extremely high.

According to consumers, the cost of internet does not tally with mobile operating companies’ services as they have to endure poor network coverage.

However, companies have a right to raise the cost of their services as long as they follow proper procedures.
