The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) has shut down Malawi Sun Hotel and Conference Centre Bakery.
The bureau has suspended operations at the bakery after observing that the food processing unit which is located at Ginnery Corner failed to meet hygienic conditions.
Malawians have since been urged to stop buying food at the bakery until conditions improve.
“MBS with immediate effect suspended operations of Malawi Sun Hotel and Conference Centre Bakery situated at Ginnery Corner due to non compliance to hygienic conditions as stipulated in Malawi Standard Number 21; Food And Food Processing Units – Code Of Hygienic Conditions.
“ The MBS wishes to advise the general public against patronizing the Malawi Sun Hotel and Conference Centre Bakery situated at Ginnery Corner until the hygienic conditions have been improved and the suspension lifted by the MBS,” said MBS in a statement.
