A 13-year old girl in Bvumbwe, Thyolo has committed suicide by hanging herself from the top of the roof in her bedroom.
Limbe Police public relations officer Pedzisai Zembeneko identified the girl as Christian Ekhala.
According to Zembeneko, the girl left her left home for school at Nyambalo on Monday morning. Later the same day, her mother waited for her return but she did not show up.
“Around 9 pm when her younger sister went to her bedroom to sleep, she was surprised to see the body of her sister hanging to the top of the roof,” said Zembeneko.
The Limbe police relations officer added that the matter was reported to Bvumbwe police and the body of the deceased was taken to Bvumbwe Research Health Centre where a post-mortem was conducted and the results showed that she died due to suffocation.
Police said they do not suspect any foul play.
Ekhala hailed from Gulumba village in the area of traditional authority Bvumbwe in Thyolo district.
