
Chikondi Saidi aged 26 is in the hands of police after he was seen with a pile of stones at Lunzu, Blantyre stoning an image of Malawi President, Peter Mutharika, police say.
According to assistant Police publicist in the Southern region, Peter Mchiza, Saidi was netted after the law enforcers got tipped by some people in the area about the incident which took place close to Lunzu Primary School .
He was stoning Mutharika’s billboard which has messages about Decent and Affordable Housing Subsidy Programme which is being championed by the Democratic Progress Party (DPP) led government.
Police fear that the acts by Saidi who hails from Mazale village in Traditional Authority Kapeni in Blantyre culd have stirred violence.
