policeOver five Police officers have been severely injured after an angry mob thought the law enforcers took along with them to court murder suspects, in Machinjiri, Blantyre on Wednesday.

According to reports, law enforcers from Ndirande and Chileka units, had taken some suspects for court hearings at South Lunzu Magistrate’s court.

It is said that the locals in the area were informed by some close sources that the suspects were those that mysteriously killed a man a couple of weeks ago in the same township.

Malawi24 understands that despite efforts by the law enforcers and court officials convincing the people that the suspects were not those the people thought, they still went ahead to cause mayhem by stoning the court, damaging police vehicles as well as damaging the court properties.

Meanwhile, Police have netted two people in line with the incident.

They are however yet to make an official statement on the incident that left some of their own men injured.
