Malawian drug dealer arrested in SA

South Africa PoliceSouth African custom officials (SARS) have arrested a Malawian taxi driver for possessing drugs.

According to reports, the 27-year-old Malawian was arrested on Sunday, at the Golela border post in KwaZulu-Natal.

He was found with heroin worth R788,900 (about K 34.7 million). The man was in a taxi travelling from Mozambique going to South Africa and when they reached the border post all passengers were asked to get out of the taxi and to have their bags inspected.

During the inspection, police found heroin weighing 1.1kg in a secret compartment of the man’s bag.

He was charged with possession of drugs and appeared at a South African court on Monday.

The Malawian will remain in custody and is expected to appear in court again on Thursday.
