MDF transfers cruel Dzalanyama soldiers

The Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has transferred cruel Kamuzu barracks soldiers from Dzalanyama forest reserve following the death of two civilians.

Confirming the development, MDF officials said the soldiers are now being replaced with a team from Cobbe barracks military.

Following massive deforestation at Dzalanyama forest, Malawi government through the Ministry of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining deployed security forces from MDF at the forest to protect the natural resources.

However, the soldiers were reported to have been beating innocent people and stealing livestock from villagers around the forest.

According to reports, Joseph Jamiele, 80, was beaten to death by the soldiers who were patrolling Dzalanyama.

The deceased’s wife Diana told the press that her husband was taken from his home while he was making a hoe handle.

Further reports revealed that, Daniel Kalendo from Chimkudzi village in the area of chief Masambankhunda in Lilongwe died at St Gabriel Hospital in Namitete after he was beaten by the soldiers.
