A man in Ntchisi has been arrested for having a sexual relationship with a standard eight pupil, Malawi police say.
According to Police, the 27 year-old man, Eliya Philip, had an inappropriate relationship with the 14 year-old from November last year to 26 January this year.
Police investigations revealed that a week ago, the rapist also took the girl from Ntchisi to Mtunthama in Kasungu where he continued to rape her.
The parents of the victim, who lives with the child at Mnjowe Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi, began to look for her and found the girl on January 26.
They reported the matter to police who arrested the suspect. The victim was later examined at Malomo Health Centre and medics found a cut confirming that there was a forced penetration on her private parts.
The suspect claimed that he had taken the victim as a mature girl. However, he has been charged with defilement and will appear in court soon.
