The Midima senior resident magistrate has sentenced 25 year-old Malawian man identified as Amin Mailosi to 8 years imprisonment with hard labor for raping an 11 year-old child.
According to assistant public relations officer for Limbe police, Widson Nhlane, on 29 September 2015 the convict went to his garden where he enticed the victim and raped her.
“When her relatives heard of the incident, they went to Mailosi’s garden and took him to the police station,” said Nhlane.
In court, the beast asked the court to be lenient when passing judgement as he is a responsible person and he looks after children.
However, the magistrate said defilement is a serious offence which attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment but he sentenced the sex offender to eight years imprisonment to deter would be offenders.
The rapist hails from Kapsepse village, T/A Bvumbwe in Thyolo district.
