A 23 year old Lonely Chipulula and her five months-old daughter met their fate as they were trying to cross Lufirizi river in Nkhotakota district.

According to the deceased’ husband Wilson Davion, he accompanied his wife to the maize garden and left her wife behind as she was looking for relish.

DrowningDavion then discovered that the victims were not returning home and decided to follow them only to see his wife and daughter floating in the river.

Postmortem results from the district’s hospital revealed that the two died due to the drowning.

The late Chipulula hailed from Nkambisi village in the area of Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi district.

In another related development, a 30 year old Chisale Bota has died after taking an excessive Kachasu beer on an empty stomach.

According to his brother Asedi Aisa, the deceased returned back from his drinking joint very weak and upon rushing him to the near-by hospital for treatment, he was pronounced dead.

The late Bota hailed from Suluwi village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwadzama in Nkhotakota district.
