Former Malawi national football team coach Kinnah ‘electric’ Phiri has signed a six-month contract at Mzuzu University (Mzuni) football club which will run until June 2016.

The development comes barely a few weeks after Kinnah helped Mzuni to survive the chop in Malawi’s flagship league.

According to information reaching Malawi24, the former Flames mentor will continue working as a technical advisor at Mzuni for the next six months.

Kinnah was fired by Free State Stars after they were beaten in four consecutive games in the 2015/16 South African Premier Soccer League season.

Recently, Kinnah Phiri’s signature was being chased by the 2015 Super League champions Big Bullets who wanted to sign him to help the people’s team in the 2016 season but that will likely not happen as he has now extended his stay at the students’ camp.

Under Kinnah’s guidance, Mzuni pulled off surprising results in their bid to survive the chop in the league.

One of the upsets came in Kinnah’s first game as Mzuni technical advisor when they downed Mighty Wanderers 3-0 at Mzuzu Stadium.
