Malawi national football team and Blue Eagles influential winger John Banda has flown to South Africa where he is expected to undergo a one week trial at Premier Soccer League side Jomo Cosmos.

According to Cosmos’ local agent Ben Chiwaya, the player could have joined the PSL side last year but the team had already reached the limit number of foreign based players. “We wanted to sign him last year but then we had already reached our number of registering foreign players.

“We have been monitoring him and this is his time to try his lucky at Cosmos and if he impresses, we will start negotiating with Blue Eagles on the fee for his services,” said Chiwaya.

Blue Eagles confirmed the development to the local press saying the player will return back soon after finishing the trials. If he is succesful, Banda will join his former team mate at Eagles Micium Mhone who joined the South African side last year in July.

Apart from Mhone, Cosmos had signed Mighty Wanderers on-loan striker Muhamad Sulumba only to send him back at Wanderers after failing to register him ahead of the on-going PSL season.
