Unknown assailants shoot DPP Treasurer

Malawi ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) treasurer for the Northern Region, Happy Kumwenda is admitted at St Johns Hospital in Mzuzu city after unknown men shot him with a gun Monday night , according to reports.

Malawi24 has been tipped that Kumwenda was shot on the back by three men who drove in a Saloon car shot him at his residence as he was talking to his guard at the gate.

“A saloon pulled up, there were three men in the car, one of them took a gun and shot me,” he said.

However, the DPP is yet to make a statement on the matter.

At the moment, Kumwenda reportedly says that he knows one of the people that shot him, something which police are not taking into account as of now and have reportedly instituted a probe into the matter.
