Reports reaching Malawi24 indicate that Malawi’s business proprietor, Reason Chitonya, who was the owner of Premier Bus Company, has died.

The death of Chitonya has shocked a lot of individuals as well as organisations including Malawi’s media.

One of them, Blantyre Press Club (BPC), a grouping of media practitioners from the southern region, has described Chitonya’s death as untimely.

According to BPC president, Blessings Kanache, the club is deeply shocked with the death and described it as a loss to them saying he was media friendly.

Kanache called on other corporate communities to emulate the example set by Mr. Chitonya who would not look at who to support in fulfilling corporate social responsibility.

“Mr Chitonya was always ready to work with the media, regardless of which media house the reporter came from.

“Premier Bus was one of the few companies which supported November 2015 Annual General Meeting. He was media friendly, and the media especially the Blantyre Press Club has lost a true partner who was available at the time of need,” said Kanache.

Chitonya died at Mwayiwathu Hospital in Blantyre.
