Malawi’s hip-hop heavyweight Gwamba has successfully managed to have his “Munthu” music video on a continent-wide platform as South Africa’s broadcaster, Channel O, will be beaming it.
The artist made the announcement on social media, much to the delight of Malawians.
A Facebook post bearing the good news has attracted hundreds of comments from his followers. ”
God is great, Munthu video is on Channel O. You can watch it anytime you want,” reads part of the post
The video exposure beyond borders has laid to rest day to day criticism against the artist. He has in the past been told to forget about promoting his music through international media platforms.
Also starring in the video is Malaulo and the award winning Tay Grin.
According to the artist, anyone who may want to request the video for broadcast can use the content provider’s other forms of media.
“You can request it via Channel O’s official twitter page, planet radio and also their (Planet Radio) twitter page.” The Lilongwe artist is one of very few from Malawi to appear on Channel O after Tay Grin, Theo Thompson, Aphofomoka of the “Kilimu ya ku Malawi” fame and Team Gypsy.
Channel O is one of the most viewed entertainment channels on Digital Satelite Television (DSTV) with viewers from over 20 countries across Africa.
