Theft lands three in the cooler in Blantyre

Malawi Police in the commercial city of Blantyre have arrested three men for taking part in a series of robberies.

The three are Lackson Mahala, 24, Thoko Namankwa, 19, and William Ndove, 31.

Blantyre Police spokesperson, Elizabeth Divala, said the suspects have been stealing laptops, cellphones and money from people around Blantyre and in the neighbouring district of Chiradzulu.

crime (2)“The suspects broke into an office of an assistant accountant in Chiradzulu and they went away with cash, HP laptop, five cellphones, TNM and Airtel airtime,” said Divala.

Divala further said the suspects also stole two Samsung cellphones from an ambulance driver.

Namankwa hails from Khoviwa Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Chikowi in Zomba, while Mahala hails from Frank Village, TA Ngokwe in Machinga district.

Ndove hails from Chokolo Village, TA Tengani in Nsanje district.

The suspects are yet to appear in court to answer charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony therein which is contrary to section 312 of the penal code.

  1. World is too dangerous to live in, not because of the people who do evil but because of people who sit and let things happen. Malwians wake up, we must report any case to police, Police is there is assist.

  2. The government should do something in order to give other things like jobs and businesses to the young ones who are found doing nothing in the country otherwise our boys and girls will be committing all sorts of crimes in the country.
