Theft lands seven in the cooler in Blantyre


ArrestedMalawi Police in the commercial city of Blantyre have arrested seven men for taking part in a series of robberies recently.

The seven are Lloyd Phiri 22, Mabvuto Chiza 32, Careen Sewa 23, Tisunge Kamowa 25, Austin Chagunda 27, Aubrey Muleso 24 and Andisiyeni Gondo 20.

Blantyre Police spokesperson Elizabeth Divala said the seven were stealing phones and other assorted items from residents around Chilomoni.

“With the help of network providers TNM and Airtel, we have managed to arrest seven men who have been taking part in series of robbery in Chilomoni township,” said Divala.

Divala appealed to the general public to be reporting to the nearest police station any person who looks suspicious in their locations.

The suspects will appear in court to answer charges of theft contrary to section 278 of the penal code.
