Malawi Police in Dedza district have arrested Tiwonge Gowelo 18, for dumping her new born baby in a bush on September 20 this year.
According to the detective inspector Pindani of the Malawi police in Dedza, the mother is said to have given birth to a baby girl in a bush and later dumped her in a ditch.
Pindani further explained that the matter was reported to Dedza police station after a girl who went to correct firewood saw the baby in the ditch.
A medical report at Mtakataka health center confirmed that Gowelo had given birth to the child 72 hours earlier.
