A Malawian man identified as Siska Nyirenda has been found dead inside a cassava plantation in Nkhatabay, police in the district have confirmed.
According to a witness, the deceased was an avid drunkard and on the day he died, he was seen boozing at Chombe trading centre in the district.
“He was an avid boozer who could hardly spend a day without sipping some spirits. Before we found him dead in cassava plantation, I saw him boozing at Chombe trading centre,” said the witness.
After being intoxicated with some spirit liquor, the deceased lost his way home and found shelter in a cassava plantation where he was found dead.
The deceased was taken to Nkhatabay district hospital where post-mortem results confirmed that he died due to low sugar levels.
