Mission Rabies will on March 23, 2026, launch a free mass dog vaccination campaign in Zomba District aimed at protecting communities from rabies.

Zomba District Mission Rabbits Coordinator Chrispin Njala disclosed this on Tuesday during a District Agriculture Extension Coordinating Committee (DAECC) meeting.

The campaign will begin in Zomba Rural before extending to Zomba Urban and it is expected that the vaccination teams will move from community to community to ensure that all dogs are vaccinated at no cost.

Njala, has since urged dog owners to come-forth and vaccinate their dogs once the exercise commences.

“We are appealing to all dog owners to present their dogs for vaccination. The vaccine is free and our teams will move to every corner of the district to ensure maximum vaccination,” he said.

Last year, Mission Rabies vaccinated 8,745 dogs in Zomba District.

The vaccination exercise is expected to run for 11 weeks.
