Four people have died while three others have suffered injuries after being struck by lightning at Kasimu Trading Centre in Mangochi district.
Confirming the development was Mangochi police deputy public relations officer Amina Tepani Daudi who indicated that the accident happened on Saturday evening January 30, 2021 in the area of Traditional Authority Chowe in the district.
Tepani Daudi said lightining struck when the victims were closing their businesses which they were doing at the trading center.
It is further reported that the seven were all struck by the lightning and upon being rushed to Mangochi district hospital, four amongst the casualties were pronounced dead.
“The other three victims escaped with minor wounds and were treated as outpatients.
“Meanwhile, postmortem for the four conducted at the hospital revealed that death was due to cardiogenic electric shock,” said Daudi.
The deceased hailed from Kasimu Village in the area of Traditional Authority Chowe in Mangochi districts.
