The company which constructed the Karonga – Songwe Road has donated a speed trap to Karonga Police Station.

Speaking when presenting the donation, ZICC Social Specialist Officer Anne Mwafulirwa said the company decided to donate the speed trap to contribute to the law enforcers’ effort to reduce road accidents.

“Our company puts lives of people at heart. This speed trap will assist police to check speeding vehicles on the road we have constructed and indeed on other roads hence reducing accidents,” she said.

The officer in charge for Karonga police station, Mr Brenant Chitanda, described the donation as timely.

He seized the opportunity to ask other companies to emulate what ZICC has done.

Statistics show that many accidents in the district occur due to speeding.
