The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has justified the dismissal of Salima North West parliamentarian Jessie Kabwila from the party saying she is a troublemaker in the party.
Briefing the media on the resolutions that MCP NEC agreed on during its meeting on Sunday in Lilongwe, newly appointed MCP Publicity Secretary Ezekiel Ching’oma said Kabwila was on suspension since last year due to bringing confusions in the party and now the party has decided to boot her out.
“One member who used to be in NEC in the past but she was on suspension and this member has been dismissed from being the member of the party. This member is Honorable Dr Kabwila who was dismissed from being the member of the party,” Ching’oma said.
Ching’oma the new publicity secretary is being deputised by new MCP catch Reverend Maurice Munthali.
During the NEC meeting, MCP also appointed Mr Sulamoyo as its new Administrative Secretary.
MCP NEC meeting also agreed to suspend Deputy President Richard Msowoya, Secretary General Gustav Kaliwo, Treasure General Mr Tony Kandiero and Deputy Secretary General Chatonda Kaunda.
The party is expected to hold a convention in April that will give a chance to all MCP members to contest in various posts of the party.
“As the year goes to an end. We thought it wise to hold convention as we all know that next year we are having elections. NEC has agreed to hold the convention at a venue that will be announced but the dates are between 4th April and 8th April,” he said.
Recently, lower shire political heavyweight Sidik Mia announced his intention to vie for MCP vice presidency at the party’s forthcoming convention.
