Muslims in Nkhotakota district have prayed for good rains in the country.

The prayers were conducted on Friday at Nkhandwe Mosque in the area of Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in the district.

Sheikh Rajab of Nkhandwe mosque led the prayers which were aimed at asking God to give the country adequate rains that will help people to harvest bumper yields.

In his speech, Sheikh Rajab requested God to give the country good rains that will match with the crops particularly maize to make Malawi food sufficient.

Speaking to Malawi24, Sheikh Rajab said that the plans to hold the prayers came in following the unreliable rains of the past growing seasons that saw many Malawians without food.

“The prayers are meant to ask God to give us enough rains to make the country food sufficient,” said Rajab.

Later on Sheikh Rajab asked God to give Malawians rains that will not lead to floods and leave thousands homeless.

Recently, President Peter Mutharika asked religious organisations to pray for good rains in the country.
