Lilongwe based side Epac FC are through to the next round of the Fisd challenge cup after beating Moyale 5-4 on post match penalties.
The game took place at Mzuzu stadium where both teams missed a lot of chances. The two sides played well but failed to score after 90 minutes of play.
As per rules of the cup matches, the game went into penalties.
Willard Dickson, Lyton Kapunda, Ranken Mwale, Innocent Tanganyika, Francis Nkonda and Mphatso Zongololo scored for Epac while Tione Tembo missed his penalty.
Moyale’s Sandras Munthali, Timothy Nyirenda, Gasten Simkonda, and Ntopijo Njewa scored their penalties but Khuda Muyaba and Chamveka Gwesani had their spot kicks saved by the Epac goalkeeper.
After the game, Charles Nyirenda who is coordinating the cup between Fam and the sponsors Fisd said the sponsors are happy.
“This what we want, the sponsors are Malawians let’s help them we never know maybe next time they will pump in more money than this.
“And the officiating panel handled this game professionally, this is what we look for,” said Nyirenda.
Coach for Moyale Collins Nkuna accepted defeat and said they are now looking forward to league games.
On his part, Epac coach Audrow Makonyola Epac coach said: “We came here to fight. Remember Moyale booted us of Presidential cup so we have revenged that defeat, thanks to my boys for taking my advice,” said Makonyola.
Nyasa Big Bullets, Blue Eagles, Silvers Strikers, Epac and Dwangwa have also booked their places in the next round of the cup.
