Malawi mob justice: Man stoned to death after killing wife
An angry mob in Salima district has stoned to death a 37 year-old man who murdered his wife after disagreements over the ownership of their house.
According to Salima Police Public Relations Officer Gift Chitowe, the man Jebesi and his wife Tikhale Nowa disagreed over the ownership of a house which they were living in.
The couple built the house at the home village of the wife and they were staying in it as a family. But the marriage broke down and the woman decided to send the man packing.
“The man was not happy with this regarding the fact that he built the house with his own money. He later took a hoe and hit the woman on the head and she died on the same spot,” Chitowe said.
After hearing that Jebesi had killed his wife, villagers apprehended him and later stoned him to death.
Post-mortem results revealed that the death of the woman was due to head injuries while Jebesi died due to multiple body injuries.
Both Jebesi and Nowa hailed from villages which are in the area of Traditional Authority Khombedza in Salima district.
